What Are the Requirements for Your Website to Show Up on Google

Illustration of website readiness checklist for Google search

No tool can index a page Google can't crawl. Nail the basics first, then worry about submission speed.

Before anyone asks us to "get my site on Google," we check the boring stuff. Is the site public? Does it return real HTML? Is it blocking crawlers by accident? Indexing tools can't magic away a noindex tag. IndexMe helps you notify Google faster after the site is actually eligible.

The baseline

  • HTTPS site that loads without a forced login for the pages you care about.
  • No stray noindex / disallow on important URLs.
  • Content a human would actually read — not empty templates.
  • A sensible structure and an XML sitemap that isn't full of junk.
  • Pages that work on a phone (mobile-first indexing) and don't take forever.
  • Search Console verified for the property.

Indexed ≠ ranking #1

Showing up at all means the URL is in the index — how Search works separates crawl, index, and ranking. Ranking for a competitive keyword is a different fight (links, content, intent — the usual SEO slog). We focus on the indexing pipe. If submits keep failing, read why Google rejects indexing.

Once you're ready

Verify in Search Console. Ship a clean sitemap. Import URLs into the dashboard and submit via the Indexing API. Leave auto-indexing on for new pages. Chase leftovers with the not-indexed checklist.

Unsure if you're ready? Glance at plans when you are, or ask before you burn a weekend on the wrong problem.
