How to Fix Crawled – Currently Not Indexed

Illustration of fixing crawled but not indexed pages in Search Console

Crawled but not indexed means Google already visited. It just didn't keep the page. That's a quality call more than a "submit harder" problem.

If Search Console shows Crawled – currently not indexed, Googlebot fetched the URL and then shrugged. Not a robots block. Not a mystery 404 most of the time. They looked and passed.

What usually causes it

  • Thin templates, thin tag archives, near-duplicate product variants.
  • Weird canonical pointing somewhere else.
  • Almost no internal links — the page feels orphaned.
  • Content that doesn't answer a real search (or copies a stronger page).

Before you rewrite everything, run thin content checker and canonical conflict. We built those because staring at GSC tables gets old.

Fix, then ask again

  1. Make the page worth keeping — unique copy, clear intent, real internal links.
  2. Confirm a 200, no noindex, sensible canonical.
  3. Re-check with URL Inspection live test.
  4. Resubmit from the IndexMe dashboard via the Indexing API — especially if you have a pile of fixed URLs, not one.

Spamming Request Indexing on the same thin URL won't change Google's mind. If there's no last crawl date at all, you're in a different bucket (discovered, not crawled yet). Broader checklist: pages not indexed.
